A286 is a precipitation-hardenable super-alloy based on iron. The material finds use
in applications requiring high strength, paired with corrosion resistance up to 1300
°F (700 °C). Besides, the alloy has other favorable properties, including excellent
fabrication characteristics, low-temperature non-magnetic strength [down to -320 °F
(-196 °C)], and ductility.

Alloy A286 belongs to the Incoloy family. Hence, the chemical composition of the alloy would include the basic iron, nickel, and chromium as their primary constituents. Along with these elements as their base, the Alloy A286 Round Bar also contains additions of both molybdenum and titanium to a substantial degree. As an Incoloy based metal, the alloy offers many great mechanical properties. The popularity of the A453 GR.660 bright bar, is however for its ability to withstand elevated temperature environments.
Ideal for such applications, the alloy exhibits both good strength as well as oxidation resistance at a temperature as high as 1300ºF. Another benefit of using Incoloy alloys to manufacture an Alloy A-286 Square bar is that they can withstand high levels of stress and heat, which makes them perfect to be employed across industries such as the offshore oil and gas industry or even as components in aircraft turbines and industrial gas turbines. Since the alloy has austenite containing microstructure, the metal is highly ductile and could be shaped into any form easily.
