317L stainless steel pipe, also known as UNS S31703 and Grade 317L SS pipe, it is a low carbon high grade stainless steel pipe, with a good corrosion resistance and machine work performance. Compare to 317L, 317 stainless steel has a higher carbon content, it means that 317 stainless steel has a better heat resistance.

Type 317 is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance; Its high Molybdenum content enhances the grade's superior pitting resistance. It was designed to be a higher strength alternative to the 316 grades. Composed of larger amounts of chromium, nickel and molybdenum, alloy 317 also is more corrosion resistant compared to 316, and tougher than Type 304. This is the due to the high percentage of iron in its composition, which is much higher than many stainless steels.The higher molybdenum content of Alloy 317L assures superior general and localized corrosion resistance in most media when compared with 304/304L and 316/316L stainless steels. Environments that don't attack 304/304L stainless steel will normally not corrode 317L. One exception, however, are strongly oxidizing acids such as nitric acid. Alloys that contain molybdenum generally do not perform as well in these environments.

3SS317L (UNS S31703) Round Bar is a low carbon corrosion resistant austenitic chromium-nickel-molybdenum stainless steel. The high levels of these elements assure the alloy has superior chloride pitting and general corrosion resistance to the conventional 304/304L and 316/316L grades. The alloy provides improved resistance relative to 316L in strongly corrosive environments containing sulfurous media, chlorides, and other halides. The low carbon content of Stainless Steel 317L enables it to be welded without intergranular corrosion resulting from chromium carbide precipitation enabling it to be used in the as-welded condition. With the addition of nitrogen as a strengthening agent, the alloy can be dual certified as SS317 (UNS S31700). Alloy 317L is non-magnetic in the annealed condition. It cannot be hardened by heat treatment; however the material will harden due to cold working. SS317L can be easily welded and processed by standard shop fabrication practices.

We produce stainless steel 317/317L socket weld flanges as per ANSI B16.5, DIN Standard and EN1092-1 in size range of 1/2” to 60” NPS. Alloy 317L is a molybdenum containing, low carbon austenitic stainless steel with increased additions of chromium, nickel, and molybdenum for better corrosion resistance and increased resistance to chemical attack for sulfurous, acetic, formic, citric, and tartaric acids. We produce flanges in carbon steel, stainless steel, high nickel alloys, duplex/super duplex, copper nickel, titanium and special alloys.

The material has higher strength than the 316 material as well. The minimum yield strength is 275MPa and the minimum tensile strength is 620MPa with 45% elongation and 193HB max hardness. There are different types of fasteners such as the SS 317L Socket Cap Screw which is used for applications that need to the use of heavy tools and high torque strength. The fasteners belong to ASTM A193 and 194 standards. The length of the fasteners range from 3mm to 200mm. The Stainless Steel 317 Bolts are strong however, they are not very efficient against chloride ion rich environments because they lack molybdenum in the composition unlike the 316 material. The nuts sizes range from M3 to M56 and the screw sizes range the same as well. The machines screws range from M1.6 through M12. The 317 SS Stud Bolt can range from 3/6 inches to 2 inches. The application of these fasteners can be seen in a variety of application such as domestic and general corrosive applications, engineering applications, automobile and other applications as well. The SS 317L Screws can come with coarse threads or fine threads with different types of head such as hex head and others.
